Default ActiveX controls and plug-ins

Each time I click on a web site, an Internet Explorer box pops up and
asks......
Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run?
Yes or No
I have to constantly click it off and it is very annoying........
How do I get rid of that?
Please tell me in simple terms as I am an elderly woman and don't know that
much about the inner workings of a computer.
Thank you for your help.

This is my first post and I'm having the same problem with these annoying
windows from Internet Explorer ! Sometimes I must click two or three times
before it will let me proceed. Please, also tell me how to stop these.
Thank you.

I stumbled on a fix ! Go to Internet Explorer>tools>internet options,
Security tab, change from custom level to default and that should do it.
